Thirty-six people were killed in a traffic accident.
At least 36 people have been killed in a road traffic crash in Meta Woreda of East Hararge Zone of Oromia State, police said.
According to the zonal police department, the accident took place at Dusse Kebele Farmers Association in the woreda at around 5:30 am today. The accident happened when an Isuzu truck with license plate number 3 – 73876 AA, which was traveling from Duse Kebele Farmers’ Association to Chelenko town, overturned. At least 36 people were killed in the crash. The injured are being treated at Dilchora Hospital in Deder, Chelenko, and Dire Dawa.
The zonal police department announced that the bodies of those who died were being handed over to their families. The cause of the accident was speeding and the driver was arrested and is being investigated, the police department told ENA.
